It's the Sound of Music for me, too! And I also went on the tour in Austria!! My friends were also super fans and we bought drindls that looked like they could have been made out of curtains to wear. One of those things that college-Kendra was brave enough to do, that current Kendra definitely would not be!
Your creativity project inspires me to be on the lookout for creativity in my own life! I love all the glimpses you shared and can’t wait to follow along the rest of the year. Also, that Sound of Music tour is a total bucket list trip for me. It’s always been one of my favorite movies and one of the reasons I fell in love with my husband because he loves it, too. Bummed it’s not coming to Dallas!
I didn't do the tour, but I loved Salzburg and walking around Mirabell Gardens! You have me beat on the number of times you've watched The Sound of Music, but it's definitely up there on the list of nostalgic movies from my childhood. I'm thrilled you enjoyed the show yesterday! And of course, thrilled you're reading The Correspondent.
I love this update. My girls and I sing songs from The Sound of Music all the time, and I just saw that the Broadway play is coming to Memphis in February! I'm jealous you've been on the tour in Austria, too.
Also, I too am terrible about starting a project with great enthusiasm and then flaking out before it's finished. But they'll always be there waiting, right??
Love that you sing the songs with your girls, Erin! I worked at a summer camp, and when I had the youngest girls cabin, we would always have a “My Favorite Things” singalong if there was a thunderstorm!
And that’s a great reframe about the projects being there waiting for us when we are ready!
I’m the same way, Laura! When I have too many updates, I get overwhelmed and don’t share any for awhile🙈loved hearing what you’ve been up to! Your creative moments compilation is amazing! I am so grateful to be in your Creative Speed Dating cohort.
My husband was just in a local production of The Sound of Music. The most watched movie of my childhood was probably Space Jam (I have two brothers) and then Bring It On and Center Stage would be tied for the preteen years (former gymnast here, but no popular gymnastics movies.)
Thanks, Aly! I’m so glad you are in the cohort—it’s been so much fun!
Also, so cool that your husband was just in The Sound of Music locally! I went through a Bring It On phase too—I am terribly uncoordinated but had a few years where I desperately wished I had all those dance/cheer/tumbling skills!
I can still recite all the Bring it On cheers/songs. Carrying on the legacy with my kids who every time they hear "brr, it's cold in here," respond with "must be some clovers in the atmosphere."
I also get overwhelmed sometimes when posting things to substack, but love how you are pushing yourself to share more. I'm loving your 365 creative moments, and how you are documenting that sometimes projects take a few days and that is ok. Can't wait to see more creative moments as they are so inspirational!
Thanks, Jen! I think it’s so easy to see everyone’s finished products and forget that there were so many moments along that journey we didn’t see, so intentionally documenting some of that has been really helpful for me!

Too fun that you also went on the tour in Austria! Wearing drindls!!!! I'm not buying that current Kendra wouldn't be brave enough to wear a drindl.
Obsessed with the fact that you + your friends bought curtain-fabric drindls to wear on the tour!!! Amazing!!

Thanks, Kelsey! I love that your husband loves the Sound of Music too—I hope y’all get to do the tour one day!!

It’s such a fun tour!!!
